- Guidance on finding a suitable AmeriCorps program to meet the needs of your organization

National Service Fund
The National Service Fund (NSF), established by the CS Mott Foundation in 2011 and housed at the United Way of Genesee County, is advised by the National Service Accelerator and is part of a service strategy to increase the national service presence in the community. The NSF supports Flint area nonprofits, schools, and government entities take better advantage of national service resources.
National service encompasses AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps NCCC – FEMA Corps, and AmeriCorps Seniors, all programs supported by AmeriCorps, a federal agency. For more information about national service, visit AmeriCorps.
The Fund provides matching grants to eligible organizations for the purpose of supporting national service participants making an impact on issues of critical importance for the region including, but not limited to, education, public safety, health and the environment. Grants may be used for member match/cost share, travel expenses or training.
In order to be eligible to apply for NSF support, organizations must have already applied for and been awarded national service member slot(s) through AmeriCorps, the Michigan Community Service Commission, or a pre-existing national service program (e.g. LISC or FoodCorps). The national service member(s) must be serving with a project that directly benefits the Flint area defined as either the City of Flint or Genesee County.
